Special Enrollment through Qualifying Life events
If you’ve shopped for individual or family health insurance in the past, then there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Obamacare, now known as the Affordable Care Act (or ACA, for short).
Open Enrollment is typically between November 1st-December 15th each year. You may not know that you can get health insurance from the Federal Marketplace if you experience a qualifying life event.
Qualifying life events include childbirth, marriage, change in location or job, and other significant happenings. You have 60 days after the qualifying life event to purchase major medical individual or family health insurance coverage in most cases. This 60-day period is commonly known as a Special Enrollment Period.

Find Me Health Insurance is an online insurance referral site. We match and directly connect consumers with insurance companies and agents across the US. Our site does not provide quotes directly to consumers and is not affiliated with any insurance carriers. Partners to which you may be transferred to are licensed and certified health insurance agents and/or agencies. You do not pay more to enroll in a health insurance plan through a licensed agent, as plans are regulated by the government. Not all plans offer all of the benefits. Availability of benefits and plans varies by carrier and location. Deductibles, copays, coinsurance, limitations, and exclusions may apply. Enrollment in a health plan may be limited to certain times of the year unless you qualify for an “SEP” also known as a Special Enrollment Period. The plans represented do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex. To learn more about a plan’s nondiscrimination policy, please visit the plan’s website.
